Freshwater StingRay Fishing
Bungsamrun is located in a quiet soi off Bangkapi Road. This is the famous mekong fishing pond which hold at least 10 IGFA World Records. The size of the pond is approx 20 acres and have a depth of 3m to 10 m. There are close to 30,000 fishes inside this pond and it has more than 45 species of fishes. This is in fact, the BEST place to fish for your Mekong Catfish and Siamese Carp fishes in Thailand. If you're on holiday in Bangkok, you must not miss this once a lifetime opportunity of landing your very first Mekong Catfish.
Boon Ma fishing farm is the biggest barramundi breeder in Thailand. The farm is set in the rural district of Chachengsao.There are 30-35 ponds in this Boon Ma farm. Each pond hold 2000 stocks of barramundi fishes, size range from 5kg to 12kg.
Pond depth 0.5m to 3m. One angler can hit up to 40-60 barramundi on a good day. The fishing method here is luring or fly fishing. For beginner to experience lure fisherman, this is the BEST place to experience lure fishing to its fullest."
IT Monsters (Predator) Lake is located in Rural Ratchburi Province. The distance from Bangkok is about 130km or about 2 hours drive. The pond size is approx 7 acres, with depth ranging from 0.5m to 6m. This unique fishing pond hold stock of 5000 ++ predator fishes consisting of 25 different species. Here you have the exotic South American giants like 130kg Arapaima, 40kg Redtails Catfish, 25kg Alligator Gar, etc, and also many more giant fishes like the 80kg Mekong fish , and 100kg Siamese Carp etc. Those who are looking for action on light to medium tackle, this is a place not to be missed."
Shadow lake or known as Now Nam in Thai , is located some 90km away from Bangkok city. A more typical Thai fishing venue than Bungsamrun. The journey took about an hour. This pond has been operating for close to 30 yrs. The size of the pond is approx 9 acres, with depth ranging from 1m to 5m. The stock of fishes is about 4000 ++. Here, they are famous for their record size stripped Catfish, Bighead Carp , 130kg Giant Mekong Catfish and 90kg Siamese Carp.".
Thailand freshwater StingRay fishing is located at BangPakong river in Chachengsao province. This unique river hold the birth place of the freshwater StingRay. The record size caught on rod is 130kg. A StingRay documentary is also featured recently in Discovery Channel for public awareness. The fight with the freshwater SingRay is breathtaking. For Mekong catfish, lines of 40 lbs to 60 lbs is sufficient. The tackles use for freshwater StingRay here are all heavy duty - PE braided 100-130 lbs using Penn International reel." Fishing World Park is a quiet fishing park located in Minburi province or about 40km drive from Bangkok. The size of the fishing park is about 500 acres. The stock of fish inside is currently unknown. It used to hold all the record size Mekong catfish, Siamese Carp from Bungsamrun until all were netted to their new location some 10-15yrs ago. You can still rent their aircon chalet at a local rate of 600 bahts for a day. Fishing licence is charge at local rate. Currently, savvy anglers went there to fish for their giant 10-15kg pacu , 8-12kg wild barramundi and 6-8kg toman fishes."
This local Mekong Catfish pay pond is located among the cosy Thai housing estate near the Samutprakarn area. The size of the pond is about 4 acres, holding some 3000 fishes consisting mainly of the Mekong Catfish and Stripped Catfish. If you are near Bangkok and want a place to relax, this place is highly recommended. Fishing licence is charged at local rate. Fishing method is mainly bottom fishing, using pre mix dough baits."
This is the famous Bor Nom barramundi pay pond. This fishing venue is popular among the local Thai anglers. The fishing licence is charged at local rate. The place is very relaxing. Nice food and a great place to meet all savvy Thai lurers there. If you are not rushing, this will be the ideal place to ease your fishing itch. Bite rate cannot compare with Boon Ma farm though."
Palm Tree Lagoon Pond
Palm Tree Lagoon venure is located at somewhere Rachaburi. Almost operate as IT Monsters Lake but in a smaller scale. This place was made famous by John Wilson who wrote a nice fishing article about this undiscover gem a few yrs back. Total pond size only 5 rais.
